The performance warranty is, once again, the most crucial in California, as it helps ensure that your panels continue performing as expected and lose minimal efficiency to maximize your savings over time.

ADT offers outstanding warranty coverage that is better than what you’ll find from just about any other installer, with the exception of SunPower. You get coverage for 25 years for the equipment, the workmanship and the panel performance.

We usually only recommend cash or loans to acquire panels because they end up being the most beneficial in the long run. However, as mentioned before, leases and PPAs are more widely accessible, given the lack of a down payment required and minimal credit requirements. It doesn’t currently offer EV charging station installations, so you’ll need to choose a different provider altogether or have that installed separately. Given the prevalence of EVs in California, this is a downside to choosing ADT for many homeowners.

All three of these are high-quality solar panel brands , boast above-average efficiency ratings of up to 21.4% and have impressive performance specs. They all have efficiency ratings that should be plenty high enough to utilize the abundant California sun and offset your above-average electric bills. Of the three options, QCells will likely be the most affordable.

Additionally, ADT doesn’t accept leases or PPAs. We don’t recommend these payment options to most customers, but we do like to see companies offering them for accessibility. These options are also likely to become more popular in the near future, as solar installations in California recently increased by around $20,000 thanks to batteries being necessary in most circumstances.

Some customers have complained about the timeframe for responses. In some cases, it doesn’t seem justified, but if your panels stop performing as expected, and you’re left paying the above-average energy prices in California after spending thousands on your photovoltaic (PV) system, being unhappy is understandable.

Another minor downside is that it only installs its own panels. Some homeowners prefer a choice so that they can balance cost and quality.

This is a concern for some Californians, in particular, as solar equipment is already slightly more expensive in the state than the national average. Plus, with the adoption of net metering 3.0, most Californians now need solar batteries to make solar worth it.
